Burger King’s Russian unit issues Whopper-based cryptocurrency

MOSCOW, Aug 22 (PRIME) -- The Russian branch of U.S. fast food chain Burger King has issued its own cryptocurrency on the blockchain platform Waves and called it “whoppercoin” after its best-selling hamburger Whopper, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The volume is 1 billion whoppercoins. Additional issuance is possible,” the company said.

The chain will credit a buyer with whoppercoints to a cryptocurrency wallet after the client sends a scan of a receipt. Every purchased Whopper hamburger brings one whoppercoin.
